Thrown Away

When is a throw not a throw but a throw thrown in a thorough sense? Well I might not have the perfect answer to such a torrid question but I will say that the placement of such a malleable textile is quite possibly a stylists or homemakers easiest undoing if overthought or overthrown … Is this helping yet?!

There are several ways to skin a cat so to speak… step back and look objectively at whatever area it is that you are styling within your home and let the furniture or architecture guide you when it comes to the structure your soft furnishings should take.
Always ask yourself: How do I want this room / space / area to feel? Sober and austere, warm and plush, calm or cosy?

Trust your instinct, not your intent and go with your initial gut feeling, particularly if you wish to create a fresh look and not a rehash of what you have already have.
Create a sense of relaxed ease by literally tossing a throw over the end of a feather filled wingback chair or select well structured, precisely placed soft furnishings should you wish to create a formal, grown-up feel.

These shots are of a recent bump in and consequent style of ‘The Collective’ a super cool property in Byron which has a laid back coastal feel to it.. Warm sandy colours, varied textures and sky blues in soft tones were called upon to create the right mood for this beachside development. I literally threw the knitted throw haphazardly on the end of the sofa as it represented a true relaxed and welcoming look to the area like the inhabitant of this abode has just jumped up to put the kettle on..

So let's wrap this baby up…. When it comes to soft, structured, starched or silky soft furnishings let the area you are dressing guide your styling instincts and throw caution to the wind when a throw is called upon to be well, just… thrown!
