Simone Bennett-Smith, is a skilled actress, presenter, MC, interior and fashion stylist with over 20-years international industry experience.
She boasts copious credits to her name including advertising campaigns, television and film roles. Simone is well-known in the ‘sunshine state’ from her 3 year role as anchor of channel 7’s Queensland’s Best Living series a high rating property show. Most recently she’s familiar to national audiences via roles on popular series’ like Packed to the Rafters, Reef Doctors opposite Lisa McCune, and the international hit television show, Lightning Point. She also plays the role of Holly in Deception, a feature film shot on the Gold Coast, released 2014, with Academy Award-winner, Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire), and Emmanuelle Vaugier (Two and a Half Men), and a hilarious featured role in Chris Nyst’s acclaimed Aussie indie flick, Crooked Business (2009).
Simone has hosted prestigious live events and launches for clients including BMW Europe, Style Magazines Group, The Australian Wool Corporation, Queensland Brides Expo, Carols by Candlelight Queensland, Gold Coast Bazaar Festival, home shows and Queensland’s Best Living associated events. Renowned for her vivacious personality and chic, contemporary style, it’s no surprise that in 2012 Simone was approached by the luxury shopping precinct, Marina Mirage, to fill the coveted position of in house fashion stylist and event co ordinator, a role that Simone continues to embrace engaging her endless creative talents and sought after personal style.
An alumni of the esteemed Actor’s Centre in London and Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden, Simone has performed, presented and danced professionally on-stage at the British Music Awards, MTV Music shows, at the annual Prince’s Trust event at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and alongside performers including Robbie Williams, East 17, Cher, Bryan Adams, Everything But The Girl and Neneh Cherry.
Simone says a ‘gloriously fun’ highlight of her UK adventure was scoring the starring role in the music video for The Scorpions To Be No. 1 (1999), where she imitates a sassy Monica Lewinski in a video that spoofs the Bill Clinton scandal − still a popular download on YouTube.
The talented entertainer spent around six years in the UK, utilising all her dancing, hosting, modelling and acting skills to win roles on and off the stage, presenting corporate videos and working for many European trade shows as a model and presenter for prestigious names like Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana, Honda Europe and BMW Europe. On returning home to Australia in 2001 she went on to successfully win many more roles in advertising campaigns for clients like Red Rooster, Arnott’s, Telstra, Mazda, Zyrtec and the prestigious ‘face of’ Suncorp Bank where Simone was successfully selected after a long national search to find the perfect talent for this role.
Simone’s present focus is divided between acting and presenting commitments whilst harnessing her love of luxe style, experience within the entertainment industry and high-end property development. “I am in the process of finally launching my home and personal styling business, Feather & Gem, that focuses on ‘staging’ homes for photographic and sale purposes. I also offer home ‘reinvention’ which includes the delicate curating of a client’s personal items to create a refreshed ‘feel and look’. Once again my extensive experience in the world of fashion and film enables me to truly create a unique end-result, whilst allowing me the freedom to get creative when sourcing particular curios and unique pieces of furniture to meet the budget a client sets. I think it is this last component that really excites me as I truly believe creating something beautiful shouldn’t cost a million dollars. It’s all about clever sourcing and re-purposing of objects that keep costs down and brings individuality into a project… the alchemy that allows a house to become a home”.
